Triple Threat Triathlon Team training begins in November and ends in August.

Training prepares members for:

  • Try-A-Tri – 300m swim/15km bike/2.5km run
  • Try-A-Du – 2.5km run/15km bike/2.5km run
  • Sprint  Triathlon – 750m swim/20km bike/5km run
  • Sprint Duathlon - 2.5km run/20km bike/5km run
  • Olympic Triathlon - 1500m swim/40km bike/10km run
  • Long Duathlon- 5km run/40km bike/10km run

Training schedules are created by our coach, and posted monthly on the members section of the web site. The schedule includes one to two coach-supervised group practices each week.

Training and Event Calendar


Team members have the option of attending the workouts offered by Triathlon Manitoba or joining one of the masters swim clubs.  Additional fees apply.  Once training moves outdoors, open water team swims are often held at various locations in and around Winnipeg.

Triple Threat Swim nights February 25th and March 11th at 8pm Pan Am Pool Training tank.  Coached session, members only.

Indoor Bike – Supervised Group Practices

January to April – Dakota Field House - Studio Room 1188 Dakota St.  Workouts are 7:00 - 9:00 PM every Tuesday Evening and include drills, standing sets and tempo rides followed by stretching.

Indoor Run – Coached Group Practices

November to March – Max Bell Field House, University of Manitoba. Workouts are 6:00 - 7:30 PM every Wednesday and can include drills, interval and tempo runs on the 200m track. Stretching and strength training end each coached workout.

Outdoor Run

Group run at the Forks every second Sunday (start on Feb 24th), varying distances all welcome. We meet by the Pancake House and leave at 8:30am sharp.

Outdoor Brick (Bike & Run) – Coached Group Practices

April to August – Mainly Bird's Hill Park with the occasional coached workout at various locations in and around Winnipeg.  Workouts are 7:00 - 9:00 PM every Thursday and include group rides, runs, and open water swimming (weather permitting).

Spring Training Camp

On an annual basis, Triple Threat hosts a weekend training camp for its members.  2017 training camp will be held at Falcon Trail Resort and is a great way to check out your skills before the start of the season. Training camp has active sessions for strength, bike & run with a potential polar bear swim for the brave. Guest speakers also make presentations on a variety of topics important for triathletes. The team weekend together lets our team members get to know one another better and a chance to socialize and form those team bonds.
