PLEASE NOTE: Park authorities require all competitors to be off the bike course by 10AM. Events will run from oldest to youngest age group. The race shedule will be strictly adhered to.

 Access to and from the East Beach parking lot will be regulated starting at 8:00AM until approximately 11:00 AM . Please follow instructions from the race crew and officials.

Race Day Schedule:

6:30AM - KOS Walk Up Registration opens & Check In opens
6:30AM - Transition opens
7:45AM - Walk Up Registration & Check In closes
7:45AM - Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting for parents and kids
8:00AM - Transition closes
8:15AM - Race Start

Heats of the same age group will be split or combined, depending on final number of participants. No start will have more than 20 competitors.

If the water or air temperature is too cold, the race will be changed to a Duathlon (run/bike/run) for the health and safety of the children. 

There will be recovery snacks and participation prizes for all competitors. Emergency medical personnel will be on-site.


7yrs and under (green wristband):  50m swim / 1.5 km bike / 500m run

8 & 9yrs (red wristband): 100m swim / 5 km bike / 1km run

10 & 11yrs and 12/13yrs short course (blue wristband):  200m swim / 5 km bike / 2 km run

12/13yrs long course and 14/15 yrs short course (orange wristband):  300m swim / 10 km bike / 3 km run

14 & 15yrs long course (yellow wristband):  500m swim / 10 km bike / 4 km run

About the Course

This race offers excellent opportunities for spectators to watch their favourite athletes on each part of the course.

Located on a grassy area adjacent to the East Beach Parking Lot. Bike racks are marked according to age group - 4 bikes per rack. Athletes are asked to rack their bikes in the appropriate area. For security reasons, only athletes and their parents will be allowed to be in transition. Athletes may take a towel and shoes to the swim area. Helmets must remain with the athlete's bike in transition.

Birds Hill Park lake. For each age group/ swim wave, KOS athletes will swim to the farthest buoy on the course. After each wave, the furthest buoy out is removed and the next group swims to the furthest buoy. The water depth varies from 0’ to 6’ and temperature is normally between 16C to 20C in early June. If the water is too cold for the safety of the athletes, the event will be switched to a duathlon. 

Bike (see map)

A rolling out-and-back course leaving from the transition area in the East Beach parking lot and turning onto South Drive. Turnaround points are marked with a coloured balloon or coloured flag that matches the athlete's wristband. The cycling course is not closed to vehicle traffic. Parents may cycle with younger athletes provided the parent does not ride in the draft zone in front or beside the athlete.
