No Track March 15, 2023

Max Bell is unavailable tonight, so don’t show up for track practice! Coach Tom will be doing an extra long strength session, so check your email for the Zoom link.

Track Practice February 15 cancelled

This week’s track practice has been cancelled, due to a track meet at the field house. Coach Tom has put in a workout for Wednesday that you can hopefully do at another indoor track, like Dakota Fieldhouse, or outside if this nice weather holds.

See you  next week at the track!

Time for fun!

Hey Triple Threaters, on top of training, it’s time to have some fun! Your Board of Directors has put together several events, some coming up quite soon. And if you’re not a member, go ahead and register so you can join us!

Friday, January 27 – Spin class at Saikel

Saturday, February 4 – Banff Mountain Film Festival

Monday, February 13 – Cross country skiing with instruction from member Jerry Buckland

Monday, February 20 – Louis Riel Day “open water” swim at Pan Am pool

Sunday, May 7 – Aid station for the WPS half marathon

May 12 – 14 – Training Camp!!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the events!

Holiday workouts

Our swim workouts have ended for the year, but they’ll be back on January 7th at Boni-Vital pool. Attendance at the swim is almost as good as at the track! Let’s see if we can beat it!

Max Bell is available Dec. 28th – make sure you respond to Coach Tom and let him know if it’s worthwhile to have a workout that day. And of course, Zoom is always available for the bike. It’d be great to work off some of that holiday food.

And the executive has some ideas coming up for a New Year’s get together!

Time trial coming up

As we approach the holidays, we come to the end of our track season for 2022. As usual, Coach Tom is encouraging us to complete a 5k time trial so we have a baseline pace. For some reason, 5k on the track is a lot different than 5k outside.

2022 Annual General Meeting

It’s that time of year again, when we review what happened last year and look forward to the new year. Make sure you complete your registration so you can vote. The meeting will take place after track practice. There will be food!

2022-2023 Season has started

Welcome to Triple Threat’s 2022-23 Season!

Triple Threat Triathlon team, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a diverse group that includes novices training for their first triathlon (swim-bike-run) or duathlon (run-bike-run), and experienced athletes, competing in Sprint and  Olympic distance races.

Our club’s coaching and training focus is centered on training for Sprint and Olympic distances. We also have members who train and race for 70.3 and Full Iron distance races.  Our coach additionally provides a Lifestyle training stream for members who are less competitively minded but want to train regularly for fun, fitness and group support

Weekly workouts will be delivered and monitored by the coach using Training Peaks.  We enjoy three coached workouts per week:

Our training season runs from November to the end August.  As hosts of the event, members are required to volunteer at the Triple Threat Birds Hill triathlon in early June.  We have regular social activities and offer a weekend Training Camp in the spring.

In-person training will follow government Covid-19 protocols of the day if/when in effect.

Triple Threat membership fee:  $170

Triathlon Manitoba ($10) and Triathlon Canada ($15) membership fees, processing fee and GST will be added automatically at checkout.  Please note that there are 3 separate waivers to review and accept before you can complete the transaction.

Registration is live here.

And the race is over!

That’s a wrap for 2022. The Birds Hill Park and Kids of Steel triathlons are over. We hope you had a great time participating. We certainly had fun hosting it.

A few things were left behind – two pairs of goggles and a pair of arm warmers. If they’re yours, please contact me so we can get them back to you.

Now it’s off to Montreal (for some) for the World Triathlon Championship Series or St. Malo for the second triathlon in Manitoba. Good luck to all the competitors!
